VP, Medical Strategy Lead - CNS [Austria]


 
The Vice President and Head, CNS Center of Excellence provides strategic medical and scientific leadership, subject matter experience and expertise to IQVIA, in the neurosciences for which they have first hand knowledge informed by training, experience and expertise. They independently lead activities that include but are not necessarily limited to early engagement of potential customers, proposal development in response to RFPs, participation in client proposal bid defense meetings, act as a medical director and subject matter expert as a consultant throughout the research and development lifecycle and the duration of clinical trials, and/or as an independent customer solution. Participation in thought leadership activities is highly encouraged.

The principal accountabilities for this role include the strategic direction to gain market share for clinical trials outsourced to CROs. To this end, the successful candidate will ensure that all of IQVIA's resources are fully leveraged in opportunities, and they will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop innovative solutions that create value for IQVIA’s customers.
The role also involves management of a small team of senior CNS medical specialists (psychiatrists and neurologists) who along with the VP, will focus on conducting various activities to drive growth, including early engagement of customers, providing scientific input into proposals, and participating in bid defenses as the subject matter expert. In addition, the VP may participate in consulting activities with other lines of business across R&DS.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead strategic direction of the CNS Center of Excellence as the therapeutic area head.
  • Demonstrate oversight in strategic proposal development in conjunction with leaders of other functions.
  • Act as consultant to their team members and other IQVIA stakeholders throughout the research and development life cycle and the duration of clinical trials.
  • Review the COE business plans for those under their remit to create sustainable business growth and make recommendations to the enterprise.
REQUIREMENTS:
A medical degree from an accredited and internationally recognized medical school with a curriculum relevant to general medical education, along with a medical license, or equivalent, from the country or region in which he/she resides and works is required. Completion of a residency in psychiatry or neurology, plus a minimum of 5 years' experience in clinical medicine, and 8 years' clinical trials experience as an investigator or in the Pharma, CRO, or Biotech industry. Specialty Board certification is desirable.
  • Robust and current knowledge of scientific, clinical, regulatory, commercial and competitive landscape in applicable therapeutic area.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and local regulations and guidelines pertaining to clinical research. Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, including good command of English language (both written and spoken).
  • Strong Business Acumen.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients.
  • Excellent skills in providing consultation and advice on multiple assignments are required, as well as initiative and flexibility.
